“Manuscripts in free verse”, is a series created deliberately in homage to the author of “Leaves of Grass” who lived for 10 years in DC. That is why the series consists of 10 digital pieces. Each print is “assembled” as a poem in free verse, but also as a portrait. The elements of each piece are inspired by the verses of Walt Whitman and the concepts that express: water, the forest, freedom, nature and love for life in general.

In the year of his Bicentennial, this series of visual poems is a tribute to this important figure in world literature.

Manuscritos en verso libre: un homenaje a Walt Whitman en su Bicentenario

Creador del verso libre y figura fundamental de la literatura de América. Whitman es considerado una de las voces más influyentes del mundo. Su poesía se puede rastrear en muchos poetas latinoamericanos. Y además de ser una inspiración para muchos artistas, también es una inspiración para los ambientalistas y el movimiento preocupado por el cambio climático. Su amor por la naturaleza y su reflexión sobre la vida la hacen más actual que nunca.

“Manuscritos en verso libre” es una serie creada deliberadamente en homenaje al autor de “Hojas de hierba”, quien vivió durante 10 años en Washington DC. Por eso la serie consta de 10 piezas digitales. Cada impresión se “ensambla” como un poema en verso libre, pero también como un retrato.

It’s a series of digital images about DC’s process of urban metamorphosis.

“Since my arrival to Washington, more than a decade ago, I have been a witness of the city’s changes, not only in terms of landscape and architecture, but in terms of population, such as my neighborhood Adams Morgan”.
